A Good Friend Gets Married!

It was bound to happen here in West Michigan eventually. A good friend from college, Kirstyn, got hitched, and ShutterBooth was there to be part of it. It worked out great because a lot of other friends were finally able to see just what this photo booth thing was. I’m thinking some of them weren’t entirely convinced I actually worked on weekends! The reception, at the wonderful Cascade Country Club, just outside Grand Rapids, was a lot of fun. The best part was being able to catch up with a lot of people that had moved out of the area. All is all, I was thrilled that ShutterBooth got to be represented at a friends event…hopefully more will follow. I wish Kirstyn and Eric the best of luck in the future!!

ShutterBooth of Grand Rapids is very proud to be a part of a special event that will be taking place on September 12th, from around 8 AM to Noon. A walk to help cure Juvenile Diabetes is taking place, and we were more than happy to offer our services. If we can help make the day a little more enjoyable, then we have done our job. The event will be at the Holland State Park, and promises to be a lot of fun. Hope to see everyone there!

Gun Lake Fun!

ShutterBooth was lucky enough this last weekend to spend the morning with the Gun Lake Indian Tribe. They have a back-to-school event every year, and a couple hundred people showed up to take part in the fun activities. Bouncy castles, pie throwing, great food, and of course our photo booth were among the many things to take part in during the afternoon. Though the event didn’t last terribly long, we took almost 150 pictures…a pretty amazing feat for any event! Everyone seemed to have a good time and I hope the Grand Rapids office gets the call next year to participate again. Based on the amount of young ones present, I have to imagine the tribe will be hosting the party for a long time to come!

Birthday Bash

We might not do many of them, but ShutterBooth is always thrilled when we get to be part of a birthday celebration. Especially a well put together Sweet 16! Bailey Broderick and 70+ of her good friends all showed up to rock it out at the McCamly Plaza Hotel in Battle Creek, MI. We in the Grand Rapids office were glad to get the call to help out…with hundreds of balloons, our prop box and spy cam (along with a scrapbook), the event was a total success. Baileys grandma helped put together a truly wonderful evening, and I wish them both the very best for the future.

A Long Haul for Big Fun!

ShutterBooth once again proved itself the company willing to go almost anywhere to satisfy a client. I actually made my way down to Ft. Wayne, IN this last Saturday…a full three plus hours away! The bride, a beautiful Emily (now Greenbaum) had her heart set on having the best Photo Booth company in the business at her event, and we didn’t want to let her down. The event, which saw the combining of several different religious backgrounds, was a total blast, and a ton of fun for myself. The guests all loved the ShutterBooth and filled it the entire night. You know people are having fun when almost no one has left at midnight! In the long run, the drive was more than justified by the incredible reception that ShutterBooth received I wouldn’t be surprised to start getting a lot of calls from others in the area! Until then though…

Kids Day–Coast Guard Festival

Grand Haven was the host of yet another wonderful Coast Guard Festival this year, and ShutterBooth was thrilled to be part of it. After our Photo Booth was won in a radio auction, the winner chose to use us on Kid’s Day, the Tuesday of the start of the Festival. Despite a day that started somewhat overcast, thousands of people showed up to participate in all the different events. ShutterBooth was among the many great activities that marked the day. The hours I was there were filled with hundreds of kids and their parents laughing away as they took crazy pictures…a whole lot of them! All in all it was a great day, and I’m really hoping they keep us in mind for next year…jobs near the beach are always welcomed!!

A recent bride we worked with posted this on The Knot. Tooting one’s horn can get old sometimes, but this deserves a post because we at ShutterBooth couldn’t be more proud!

Photo booth: Shutterbooth A++

We went with a photo booth as our guestbook. It was great because our guests could take a series of 4 photos, and the booth would print out two copies. One for them to keep, and one to place in a book where they could sign their names, put in some stickers that Wade (our Shutterbooth vendor) provided, and they could write us little notes as well. He was there all night making sure everything was working out, and people knew what to do. The photo strips even had a logo on the bottom that I got to choose/design, and approve in our wedding colors with our names and the date – it was awesome. The guests could go in as many times as they wanted, and I had a photo book to take with me – well actually my mom took it, but it was ready that night, so we could read it the next day as we waited to leave for our Honeymoon. I had originally gone with another company, but my mom and sister saw both companies at a bridal show, and Shutterbooth had a much higher quality booth, and the photos were much better. The colors were brighter, and more true. They worked with me, we made the switch, and I could not be happier with the results! My guests are still commenting on it! I would also like to say that I am so happy with the job you did. I did not have to do a thing, you had it completely under control and my guests bring up the photo booth every time I see them. I love that there was so much room inside the booth, and that the photos were of such high quality. I did see the comparison between your photos, and the photos of the other company, and the difference was most definitely noticeable. In the other companies photos, my sisters purple shirt looked blue, and both my mom and my sister looked washed out. In your booth, the colors were just right. The photos were true to color, and that is important. I am so grateful that you worked with me on the pricing so I didn’t lose out by switching companies! I know the booth would not have been nearly as good had I not switched. Your booth was definitely worth at least double what I paid – the results are priceless, and I wouldn’t trade the service and quality for anything. Thank you again for saving me, and being more than I could have ever asked for! I do hope an opportunity arises in which I can use your services again, it was fabulous! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

ShutterBooth Grand Rapids Records!

ShutterBooth Grand Rapids finally surpassed a longstanding record this last weekend. At Stephanie and Tony’s wedding reception at the Royal Scot in Lansing, a lot of people got their pictures taken…a whole lot of people! The group of almost 300 made it into the booth over 200 times! That’s right, over 200. The bride and groom, who had been together since high school, had managed to accumulate dozens of great friends, and most of them must have been on hand this last Saturday. The crows was great and kept me extremely busy the entire evening. I wouldn’t bet this new record is beaten anytime soon, though we will certainly keep trying! The rest of you out there can make it a goal the next time you are around a booth to help set a new mark! Also, “Enough G”, I’ll be waiting for that contract to come!

MWEP Meeting

This last Tuesday I had the great fortune of spending an evening with dozens of wedding and event professionals from around the Grand Rapids area. JGardellas was the host as over 50 different people got together to network and have a good time. The featured vendors, Li’l Miss Cupcakes and Vita Dolce Chocolates brought their delicious wares (which we were all encouraged to try!) and also told us all a little about their new enterprises. We at ShutterBooth think they have very promising futures ahead of them! Aletha VanderMaas of Pearls Events is the local MWEP liaison and I encourage anyone in or around this industry to get ahold of her with any questions. It’s a nice change of pace to meet with colleagues outside of an actual event, and I had a great time talking with several different vendors. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the next event…and secretly hoping maybe the featured group is a home-brewing company, or something of the sort!

Bridal Show/Women’s Expo

Grand Rapids, and the Devos Place was host to yet another great bridal show this weekend. Three long days were filled with thousands of people taking advantage of the great deals and sights at the combo bridal show and women’s expo. Over 500 vendors in total showed up to participate…including us at ShutterBooth!

The days were long (ten hours on Saturday alone!) but it was made much easier because I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some other great vendors. Right next to me was True Vine Creations, a wonderful company out of Hudsonville that will go out of their way to help make sure you have a beautifully decorated event (or home for that matter). The ladies at this company were kind enough to put up with me all weekend, so for that I thank them!

Across the way from me, was a vendor all the way from Petoskey! Megan, with Bay Harbor Resort and Marina. She and her associate Joel made the trip to Grand Rapids to help let all the locals know what a wonderful resort they have up in the north part of our state! I hope Iwas as good as company as they were!

The whole event was a great chance to get in front of potential clients, ones I had seen several times before, as well as new ones out checking the wedding scene for the very first time. Based on the feedback I got I have a feeling that ShutterBooth will continue to grow rapidly in the West Michigan market. Thank you to all of you that took the time to stop by and say hello.
